Having an Epiphanie

I have L.V., Gucci, Prada, Burberry, Kate Spade and Coach in my closet, but I take my Epiphanie bag wherever I go.

Yup, so I get did get an Epiphanie since my last gushy post, and it arrived just in time for the trip to Norway!

So, I have been receiving a lot of interest and compliments on my new bag  (yeah, so maybe I was fishing a little by exclaiming, “Look, how cool is this?” to everyone I met), and I have taken to distributing the Epiphanie Bag’s website on napkins over dinner.

All the girls want it; and the guys, well I’ve been telling them that it is the perfect way to score points with their woman.

P/S: Interesting observation – Only photographers will tell you “That’s quite alright” when they ask the price. Yes, even the men. I guess, in their mind, it’s barely a fraction of the cost of a new lens! :p

Needing an Epiphanie… or four

Those who know me know that my one big retail weakness for years has been bags. It is the one thing I completely allow myself to splurge on. (*shushes sniggering from the sides*)

Since I picked up photography at the beginning of the year however, I have become increasingly vulnerable to photographic equipment and accessories as well.

It was quite difficult to reconcile the two – after all, it’s hard to look pretty and dainty when you are lugging around two kilograms of equipment.

Yes, I still shelled out good money for one of the best camera bags around and I’m not saying I’m not pleased with it. But to be honest, it’s like marrying the guy who is a safe and stable provider – you know in your mind it’s a good choice but not it’s not one that makes you giddy and giggly.

What happens when – being the diligent photography student that I am – I want to take my camera everywhere, but the camera bags I have just do not go with my wardrobe?

Being a girl – even one that some proclaim a ‘gadget girl’ – fashion wins out everytime. Recently, I have resorted to shoving my dSLR and 50mm Prime Lens into my Kate Spade Stevie completely unprotected. Ouch!

Then, the Little Sister sent me to Epiphanie Bags’ website and I’m head over heels!

Aren’t they just gorgeous? And just looking at all the gear fitting snugly (and well-protected) inside… *wipes away drool*

Bags + Photography = Double the Lust.

Now the only problem is, how do I choose among the four designs they have currently? I love them all!

Edit >> I heard from the D that they are currently out of stock and will only begin shipping mid-June. Darn, I was counting on it to look all chic traipsing around Norway.

It still amazes me how much talent you can find on the Internet.

I recently came across the absolutely lovely works of Gabrielle Kai. I love her colours and tones, vintage props, and most of all, the simplicity of her photographs.

Her “I ♥ Details” portfolio is candy for the eyes, and a great cure for Monday blues.

Pretty things aren’t usually my style, but right now I’m so inspired, I’m off with the Little Sister to get some roses and lilies to shoot at.

P/S: I am really tempted to get the “Inspired by Vintage Books” print through her shop. It would be perfect for the “book nook” in the house, don’t you think? But I need to get my own place first. :p

Think it, then do it?

If there’s one thing to be said about me: When I want something, I go out and get it.

And I don’t mean that in the good sense.

My interest was piqued during Jino’s class last weekend when he mentioned Think Tank’s camera bags. (By the way, Jino gave plenty of great tips which I completely appreciated; unfortunately many of them, as with many things in life photography, require some “investment”.)

I did some research (I was quite depressed that they had it on Amazon but wouldn’t ship to Singapore) and, having some time to spare today, dropped by Shaw Towers and became the proud owner of the Rotation 360 in ten minutes flat.

I also figured the Aquapac would be absolutely essential. You know, since we’d be going onto zodiacs for landings, and we might get wet, and all that jazz. It’s being shipped as we speak.

Now I am having a wee bit of a guilt attack.

I’m so efficient when it comes to shopping that it scares me.
