How to start an environmental programme in the office

“Just by education and provision of simple (free) tools, we reduced paper consumption by 48% from the previous year and increased recycling.”

How I did it:

  • Set up a recycling programme by providing recycling bins and collection for paper
  • Set up collection point for paper that has been printed on one side and can be reused
  • Encourage others to set double-sided printing or from re-used paper tray as default print settings
  • Run awareness campaigns on climate change and promotional events (eg. Earth Day)
  • Provide regular tips on saving paper
  • Gain their commitment to save paper by pledging to save the earth
  • Audit checks and regular reporting on our current status

And it could not be done without the great support of the team and colleagues.

It took me 9 months.

It made me Proud
